He was a core member of the professional chorus at Mount Calvary Catholic Church, where he prepared diverse sacred works of the western classical cannon for weekly service. In addition to singing, Zachary also served as assistant conductor, rehearsing and leading the ensemble in occasional services and special performances.
At the University of Iowa, Zachary performed for multiple years as both soloist and chorister in the top-level ensemble Kantorei under the direction of respected conductor and tenor, Dr. Timothy Stalter. Additionally, Zachary had the privilege of participating yearly in masterclasses with renowned visiting ensembles such as Cantus, Roomful of Teeth, Lorelei Ensemble, and Blue Heron, which reinforced the importance of balancing contemporary and historical voices.Â
